National Progressive Rural Leaders Launch New Political Organization to Fight for Small Towns
RuralOrganizing.org is a grassroots network of 40,000 boldly progressive and proudly rural activists fighting for their communities
Columbus, OH – In just one year, a small, informal group of volunteers who care about rural America has grown to a network of over 40,000 rural activists from all 50 states.
Today, leaders of the network, called RuralOrganizing.org, are launching an official political organization to fight for small towns and rural communities.
According to the Center for Rural Affairs, nearly 7 in 10 rural Americans fear their small town way of life may be dying, yet 90% say this way of life is worth fighting for. With smart communications and strategic digital organizing, RuralOrganizing.org will empower rural progressives and develop, pass, and implement policy platforms needed to rebuild small towns across America.
According to Matt Hildreth, founder and board chair of RuralOrganizing.org:
We believe that small town voters are the most capable of solving their own problems and want a more positive political processes that leads to a more productive government. Our approach is to empower and equip rural leaders to identify challenges and solutions in their communities, develop positive political agendas that prioritize their best interests, and mobilize support for legislation and candidates that will deliver sustainable change in their own communities and across the nation.
The mission of RuralOrganizing.org is to rebuild a rural America that is empowered, thriving, and equitable. Follow us on Twitter @RuralOrganizing.
